Flooding in Tuscaloosa

12/20/2017 (Permalink)

Flooding from heavy rains

We do not see a lot of flooding in Tuscaloosa during the rain seasons, but in some areas we will see storm drains back up into yards. Occasionally, your pond in your backyard will overflow in to your home. This is never a fun thing to come home to or to wake up to. Flood water is very contaminated. As you can see in the picture, the Alabama "dirt" aka red mud went in to this Tuscaloosa home. At the time the rain was happening it was well over ankle height throughout the ground level of the home. The sheet rock, flooring and all porous contents touched by the contaminated water had to be disposed of. Thankfully flood insurance was available to help this homeowner. If your home suffers flooding call 205-339-5022 for emergency service.
