What Caused That Little Bubble Under My Office Carpet?

12/30/2020 (Permalink)

A ripple is shown with a bubble underneath it, from carpet delamination, caused from water damage. Carpet delamination from water damage, causing a ripple.

Have you ever been walking through your office building or the apartment complex, and you stepped on something that felt like a "bubble" in the flooring? This is called Carpet delamination. This is a condition where the secondary backing of the carpet is detached from the primary backing or where the glue loses it's stick to your sub-flooring. If this were to happen to your carpets during a water damage situation, we would be required to remove any carpet affected by the water as the carpet has become irreparable and once we have removed the damaged carpet we would place the appropriate drying equipment down to remove any remaining moisture in the area.
